Paul Elwood

Principal

Paul has worked in the translation and language services industry for over 25 years, involving projects from basic diplomas to IMAX movies, subtitles to product packaging, web development and more. After living in LA for 14 years, he relocated to Barcelona where he launched the Language Department’s European branch. Over the years, Paul has personally casted and directed talent for on-camera hosts, produced a score of web sites, and managed languages well beyond the everyday need.

Joan Puig

Head of Production

Joan is a true problem solver that will complete any and all projects to perfection. Active in the publishing world since 1999 in Mexico, and 2001 in Barcelona, Joan began working as a publisher, editor and translator from English, Portuguese and Catalán into Spanish. Before joining Language Department, Joan studied Literature and Translation, specializing as a Project Manager in leading companies within the language and publishing industries.

Gabriel Puig

Business Strategy Consultant

Gabriel is a serial entrepreneur, seasoned investor, and professional Industrial Engineer with over 20 years of top management experience. Having worked at Accenture and Sara Lee, he currently is both a partner and Managing Director of Immfly, a digital technology business company based on Barcelona, he is a long-distance runner in the business world who aims to make a successful, profitable growth journey in a (local) company on a global market.

Attiya Abdulghany

Marketing Advisor

Attiya is a seasoned digital marketing and product strategist that has more than 12 years of experience fulfilling both generalist and specialist roles across a variety of industries and verticals. Her in-house experience includes VP of Marketing for TuneUp Media, and her agency experience includes clients like Dodge, New Line Cinema and McDonald’s. Presently, she runs Oliver + Sons, a digital strategy consultancy focused on helping companies grow and thrive in the digital world.

Carolina Leon

Project Manager

Initially a Philosophy major, with a background in Film Production, Carolina took the not-so-traditional route to become a Project Manager at Language Department.
Coming on board as an English/Spanish translator for a large client, Carolina was recognized for her excellent communication, out-of-the-box thinking and organizational skills, and offered the role of Project Manager, where she now oversees all direct communications with Language Departments clients and vendors.

Adriana Guillén

Spanish Quality Manager and Assistant Project Manager

Adriana is a language and literature specialist, who holds a B.A. in Hispanic Language and Literature, a master’s degree in Hispanic American Literature, and is currently studying a PhD in Latin American Studies. She has published several academic articles and given conferences about oral tradition in Mexico. She has a background in publishing, notably working as a literary advisor for Penguin Random House, and her love for literature has seen her take part in different cultural management projects, such as the International University Book Fair, an important cultural annual event of Southeast Mexico.

Cécilia Allain

French Quality Manager and Assistant Project Manager

Cécilia is passionate about all things linguistics. A French-language specialist, Cécilia holds a degree in Hispanic Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Translation, Subtitling, and Interpretation. Currently based in France, Cécilia has studied and lived in the UK, USA, Spain, and Mexico. This has enabled her to enrich her language knowledge and skills, which play a key role in her work as a translator and assistant project manager.
