The German language is one with a rich history. German has often been referred to as the language of the ‘Dichter und Denker,’ or of the writers and thinkers. Coupling this concept with the beautiful, often mysterious forests of Germany that leave room for the mind to wander and restore itself, it’s no wonder why they have they use the word Waldeinsamkeit. While technically an untranslatable word, Waldeinsamkeit roughly means “the feeling of being alone in the woods” or “the feeling of pure solitude in the woods.” No matter which indirect translation you choose, the meaning is understood and cherished far and wide to German speakers.
