Gaelic is the beautiful, complicated and widely under-appreciated native language of Ireland.
The earliest written records of Gaelic appear from the early 13th century until the 19th; during this time, a shift in Ireland occurred that made English the primary spoken language, breaking away from established Irish-speaking areas.
