Meet Theresa…
What country and city do you currently reside in?
I live in Rancho Cucamonga, California, United States – East of Downtown Los Angeles. It’s a not-so-big or historical city, only finding its feet in 1839 and residing right next to the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Please explain more about your professional background and interest in working one-on-one with clients.
I’m very much a people person. Dealing with customers, solving problems and answering needs is fulfilling for me. I have an extensive background in non-profit and government organizations with a focus on Marketing and Sales. Also, emergent technologies have always played a part in my professional past as well.
What’s your favorite thing about your role at Language Department?
The quality team members and clients that they seem to surround themselves with daily is incredible. In my time here, I haven’t yet come across anyone associated with the company that isn’t completely dedicated – not only to their job but to the well-being of their customers. It’s extremely refreshing to work alongside them and learn with and from them all.
What interests you most about language and translation?
I have always had an intense love affair with the written word. Language surrounds us so exquisitely everywhere where we travel, moves us, defines us, connects us. Seeing how that translates into our worlds community has been, by far, one of the most exciting adventures I have had so far.
Whats are the major benefits of using a boutique translation agency over the other language services providers?
Being what I would term a “boutique” agency has had the same advantages of having my boutique physician. I trust the ethics and experience of the company and trust that their total commitment to my specialized needs are being met.
What is a myth about sales you don’t buy into?
That sales and marketing have different goals. I like the “One Team” mentality – this explores the attitude of “It’s Not My Problem.” This attitude defines a company’s culture by the mental attitudes of employees for not just sales and marketing but the entire company. There is an explanatory tale of this under the title “The Story of Everybody, Somebody, Anybody & Nobody”.
Why are customer relationships so important in this industry?
Again, I’ll go back to the boutique approach. I want each and every customer to know me and what kind of person I am. And, that they can trust not only my word but that of each person involved in their account. My only goal is for their surprise to see how easy and affordable the process was for them.
